Report from Israel, with an Historical Perspective
Europe, the continent of the Holocaust. I bear no ill will towards today’s Europeans, but it is clear that their continent is in rapid decline. It is axiomatic that tormentors of Jews and Israel are eventually swept into the dust bin of history. It started in Egypt and continues until today. The Egyptian, Babylonian, Greek, and Roman empires were mercilessly cruel to the Jews and Israel. But those empires have all vanished, even as Israel today rises to incredible heights. Spain was the greatest power of the Middle Ages. Yet, Spain expelled all of its Jews in 1492 and, soon enough, Spain’s power and influence began to wane. The Russian empire, virulently anti-Semitic, is no more. What about Europe? It served up its Jews to the Gestapo on a sliver platter and with great enthusiasm. And now, just 60 years later, Europe is on the brink of bankruptcy. This is not a coincidence. It is an inexorable truth that the way a nation treats Jews and Israel determines its fate.
The first time Obama met Netanyahu, the President put his feet up on his desk and talked to the Israeli prime minister in a condescending manner. I’m not saying that the President’s attitude towards Israel has anything to do with the increasingly dire state of the American economy, but I have to wonder.
